Having already successfully imported the #2 file that I explained to you in the previous section, the header and footer design is already like that of the live demo and you just have to customize it with your information.
How to edit Menu #
Go to your WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Menus > and from here you create your menus by adding the elements you prefer to the sidebar on your left.
Where exactly do you want to see the menu you create? Don’t forget to check the box for your menu location on “Menu Settings” at the bottom of the page.
In case you want to apply a single menu to both Primary, Mobile and Footer you must select all three options.
How to edit Header #
Go to Appearance > Customize > Header. Use the drag-and-drop header builder to arrange elements. Click on each section to customize logos, menus, buttons, and more.Adjust layout, spacing, and colors in the settings panel.
My child themes do not include a pre-designed layout for the new Kadence Header feature. However, you can enable and customize it freely within the Kadence settings + Kadence Blocks or create new templates for Header and Footer with this Elementor plugin.
Read carefully inside the text file “04. (Your ThemeName) General – Read me”.
For example:
- Lilou General – Read me
In that text file it is specified whether the header and footer require Elementor or Kadence Theme.
How to edit Footer #
Firstly, go to WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets
Edit elements for your footer
I usually build almost all of my theme’s footer inside the Footer 1 Widget.
Edit or build all of the elements in there (like your links, menu items, etc.).
Don’t add your footer background directly inside these widgets.
If necessary, also edit any elements in other widgets (like Footer2, 3, etc.).
Secondly, if you only use the Kadence Customizer, go to Appearance > Customize > Footer. Use the Footer Builder to add widgets, menus, and copyright text. Customize background, colors, and typography as needed.
Instead, if you want to use an external plugin, you have to create new templates for Footer with this Elementor plugin.
How to edit Homepage Settings #
Also for this important step, go to your WordPress Dashboard > Customize > Homepage settings.
Click on “A static page” > choose the page you want to set as homepage. If you want to set one of the live demo layouts, just choose the page you prefer from this list, for example Home Page 1 or Home Page 2.
Please, note: repeat the same procedure for the “Posts page” as well and select the “Blog” page as the default page for your blog articles.
